[Maine-birds] Swan: not seen after 1:45pm

Hi Folks,

The Tundra Swan in Stockton Springs' Sandy Point Wildlife Management Area afforded some good views and a few photos between the hours of 1045 and 1345 yesterday (Thursday), but one more canoe pass through the marsh between 1440 and 1530 yielded no sightings. I believe that after the four of us watched it fly from near the dam to farther back in the marsh at 1345, it may have continued north or east and vacated the location.

Hopefully it will be back in the morning. I will stop by to scope and possibly go out by canoe again. If using a scope, stand on the wooden platform above the dam and scan the entire area. The bird could be out to the left and barely visible in the back of the marsh as it was earlier.

Ducks in the marsh included a hen Long-tailed Duck, hen Ruddy Duck, 22 Ring-necked Ducks and a handful of Buffleheads.

Here are a couple of shots: https://flic.kr/p/p78KZc

Good Birding,

William Nichols
