William Nichols reports that his parents closely observed a white swan with a black bill, i.e. not a Mute Swan, on the pond at Sandy Point Beach in Stockton Springs (end of Steamboat Wharf Road off Rt. 1). The bird flew off and was thought to have gone up river earlier this morning. Folks from Winterport and Bucksport might keep an eye out for the bird. If it went down river, then spots like Stockton Harbor and Searsport are good spots for a swan to stop.
Good luck.
