York County
On the 29th, a SNOWY OWL was seen in Kittery from Interstate 95.
A late PRAIRIE WARBLER was photographed at Fort Foster in Kittery on the 29th.
A SNOWY OWL was reported from Ocean Ave in Wells on the morning of the 3rd.
On the 29th, a GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was photographed at Timber Point, located at the end of Granite Point Road in Biddeford.
Two ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were reported from East Point Sanctuary in Biddeford on the 30th. A PACIFIC LOON has been seen sporadically from here since November 21st and was last reported on December 1st. A DICKCISSEL was also seen here, in the thick brush along the trail, on the 3rd.
A drake BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was seen in the Saco River from Rotary Park in Biddeford on the 30th.
Greater Portland
On the morning of the 29th, a drake EURASIAN WIGEON was found at Grondin Pond, best viewed from the end of Woodview Drive in Scarborough. Two drakes were photographed here on the 30th but only a single bird was being reported as of the 5th.
The TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE that has been at Florida Lake in Freeport since November 22nd, continued to be seen feeding on the winterberries along the dike at the north end of the lake through the 5th.
Kennebec River Valley (Augusta-Waterville)
On the 2nd, a SNOWY OWL was reported from Bellevue Farm in Readfield. The farm is located just south of the intersection of Route 17 and the Plains Road.
Two drake BARROW'S GOLDENEYES were seen in the Kennebec River in Waterville on the 5th.
Midcoast
An adult GOLDEN EAGLE was reported near the Morse Mountain in Phippsburg on December 1st. A BOREAL CHICKADEE, rare in this region, was also reported that day.
Penobscot Bay
A late TENNESSEE WARBLER was spotted in downtown Belfast on the 4th, feeding in the crabapples along Main Street.
Central Maine
On the 28th, a SNOWY OWL was seen at the Hampden Industrial Park along Route 202.
A SNOWY OWL was reported from the Bangor International Airport on the 5th.
A late report but noteworthy: a MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD, only the second record for Maine, was photographed in Lincoln on November 23rd. The location was near the Carquest store on the River Road near the intersection with Route 2.
Downeast
A female VARIED THRUSH was photographed in Beals on the 4th. Interestingly, this is only about 15 miles from Whitneyville, where a female Varied Thrush was photographed on November 19th.
Western Mountains
Four SNOW GEESE were seen in the open fields next to the white "Home Acres" barn on Route 113 in Fryeburg on the morning of the 2nd.
Northern Maine
A SNOWY OWL was photographed just south of Presque Isle on the Center Line Road on the 29th.
