Spencer Hardy, a very good birder visiting from Vermont, found a Western Grebe on Middle Bay this morning, December 26th. His vantage was from private property on the western side of Harpswell Neck.
The nearest and best public vantage in the direction that he saw the bird is Simpson Point (end of Simpson Point Rd, Brunswick; D3, map 6 Delorme). Bring your portable Palomar telescope, and good luck! I know at least one person has searched from Simpson Point and not yet found the bird.
