A very late Rusty Blackbird, first discovered last week, is continuing to show at a feeder in Chapman. The bird is in good company with several lingering American Robins, American Tree Sparrows and 50+ Evening Grosbeaks.

A very late Belted Kingfisher was reported at Presque Isle Stream in Mapleton on the 3rd. Considering most shallow water streams and almost all ponds and lakes have been frozen for quite some time, this is a surprising find.
Two Snowy Owls are being seen southeast of Presque Isle along Route 10. A dark bird first reported a week ago favors some power poles near the intersection of the Centerline Road and Route 10. The second lighter bird was spotted south of the Cleaves Road intersection not far from the Easton town line.
Good numbers of finches are also being seen locally now. A large patch of unharvested sunflowers on Route 1 in Presque Isle is attracting 100+ American Goldfinches and 30+ Common Redpolls. Today five Pine Grosbeaks stopped in for a while too. https://www.flickr.com/photos/71911844@N04/15341919733/in/photostream/
In my yard in Woodland, the Evening Grosbeak flock has built to nearly 30 birds. Pine Grosbeaks, Pine Siskins, Purple Finches, goldfinches and the occasional redpoll have shown here since Thanksgiving but none are reliable. Today a single redpoll, an apparent "Greater" was visiting the feeders.
Good birding
