[Maine-birds] This Week's Highlights, 1/3-1/7.

Hi all,

Sightings of note over the past five days included:

- "West Freeport" section of the Freeport-Brunswick CBC, 1/3 (with Dan Nickerson and Jeannette):

4 White-winged Crossbills, Beech Hill Rd, Freeport.

2 Common Redpolls, Granite Rd, Yarmouth.

1 Northern Shrike, Hidden Pond Preserve, Freeport.

- 1 BROWN THRASHER and 2 Hermit Thrushes continue, downtown Portland, 1/5.  Plus Peregrine Falcon fly-over.

- 3 Iceland Gulls (one each of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winter), Old Port, Portland, 1/5.

- 1 hen Northern Pintail, Grondin Pond, Scarborough, 1/5.

- 1 immature male NORTHERN SHOVELER, 2 drake RING-NECKED DUCKS, and 1 hen Northern Pintail, Riverbank Park, Westbrook, 1/6 (with Jeannette).

- 1 continuing adult GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, Stroudwater Crossing, Portland, 1/6 (with Jeannette; photos).

- 2 drake Barrow's Goldeneyes continue in the Lower Haraseekett River here in South Freeport, most often in view from the Freeport Town Wharf.
