Under the feeder this morning, the first Purple Finch in ages. White stripe over the eye on a larger than the (getting yellow) goldfinches, striped breast, obviously a Purple Finch. It may be a first year male, as I noted that the tail had a bit of red in it. I remember once asking why I was hearing a female Purple Finch singing; was told it was a juv male!
Common to you all, but special for me!
