[Maine-birds] Ducks at the Mouth of the Abby, 4/2.

Hi all,

Ice went out on the Abagadasset River in Bowdoinham on Friday, and as of this morning, the flats at the rivermouth were about 70% open - just in time for the "Spring Ducks and Draughts" tour in our Birds on Tap - Roadtrip! series. Duck numbers have more than doubled since Friday, despite yesterday's storm.

Today's tally:
600-700 American Black Ducks
100-150 Mallards
40 Canada Geese
20 Common Mergansers
8 Wood Ducks
6 Green-winged Teal
4 Hooded Mergansers
2 American Wigeon
2 Northern Pintail
9+ Bald Eagles.

We also had 8 Bald Eagles, 12 Common Mergansers, and a singing Carolina Wren at Mailley Park in Bowdoinham, and our 20th Bald Eagle of the day over Oxbow Brewing Co in Newcastle.
