Today I took a quick drive up the River Rd. to see if the Common Goldeneyes were still below the Shawmut Dam and there were several. At the Cavarly Farm there were many crows and then an eagle appeared and flew behind the farm. Then 50 or so ducks flew up (I am not sure if there is any kind of water area behind the farm), and the drakes had white bellies and wings and a blackish head and neck. No reddish chest like Mallards but I did see Mallards fly over at the Flood Farm. Any ideas?
-- Also was pleased to have 30 or so Horned larks pecking by the side of the road at the Flood Farm, and one Lapland Longspur mixed in. It was rusty on the side/neck and about the same size as the larks.
