[Maine-birds] This Week's Highlights, 12/30-1/5 and Predictions Blog link

Hi all,

My observations of note over the past seven days included:
- 1 drake BARROW'S GOLDENEYE, Winslow Park, Freeport, 12/30 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).
- 72 Harlequin Ducks between The Nubble, York and Marginal Way, Ogunquit, 12/30 (with Pat Moynahan).
- Marginal Way, Ogunquit, 12/30 (with Pat Moynahan):
1 juv. YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER
1 FOX SPARROW
1 drake and 2 hen NOTTHERN PINTAILS
10 Lesser Scaup
4 Greater Scaup
1 Yellow-rumped Warbler
- 1 adult RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, Westbrook Riverwalk, 1/2 (with Jeannette).
- Razorbills, Black-legged Kittiwakes, Harlequin Ducks, etc, but alas, no rare alcids, various locations in Cape Elizabeth, 1/5.
- 1 SNOWY OWL, Dyer Point, Cape Elizabeth, 1/5.
- 1 hen Greater Scaup, Trundy Point, Cape Elizabeth, 1/5.

And finally, I posted my annual blog predicting the next 25 species to show up in Maine, and the next 25 species I will see in Maine. It also included a rundown of some of the best birds in the state in 2017.
