Weather:
More, strong, northerly winds blew across the area again today, with occasional strong gusts. Partly cloudy skies started the day, increasing by midday, and then breaking up again by day's end. Visibility, and heat distortion, tracked in unison with the cloud cover. Temperatures climbed to a high of about 50 degrees Fahrenheit by the final hour.
Raptor Observations:
Not many memorable moments related to raptors occurred today, other than the Harrier, who may have just been commuting locally. The bird appeared in a spot, elevation, and under conditions we had just been pontificating about.
Non-raptor Observations:
Another slow day for other species. Only 21 species were seen or heard from the summit. A first-of-season kite boarder's sail was seen, miles away, in Harpswell. A good indication about the wind conditions today.
Predictions:
Tomorrow should be little warmer, but we'll still be dealing with NW winds. Wind speeds should be a little lighter than today, which will be welcome. Cloud cover should be at a minimum, which means thermals for the birds, and being extra vigilant for spotters.
