[Maine-birds] Shore birds and others at Flat Bay, Harrington

A big migratory push today of shorebirds - over 2,500 shorebirds feeding at Flat Bay during this afternoon's low tide.   The majority were Semipalmated Sandpipers but many Semipalmated Plover and Dunlin were also observed.  Striking in their absence were Black-bellied Plover and both yellowlegs.

Nearly 200 Bonaparte's Gulls were seen - they've been here a few days now.  They seem to be attracted to some spawning or fish runs at the beginning of low tides and feed close to shore - just below our house!  Noisy and beautiful!

Merle and Anne Archie, Harrington
