I was delighted to welcome the first Fox Sparrow in over a year to my yard on Tuesday [4/2]. Yesterday it was joined by a second one. "Maybe tomorrow we'll have a third," says my wife. This morning, sure enough, there were three. But now they've gotten ahead of themselves -- by 4:45 this afternoon there were five. Which I think is the most we've ever had at one time. I did not note when we had them last year but in 2011 our first ones showed up on March 20.
Also, a male Purple Finch was briefly on one feeder this morning, but I have not seen him since. First one since last fall sometime.
