Bobolinks were singing away when I got up Friday morning. My favorite sign of spring.
Yesterday I had n. parula and yellow warblers in the neighborhood. Today c. yellowthroat arrived.
Today I also went to the Damariscotta Mills fish ladder to see the alewives. Lots of fish! Lots of gulls nabbing fish. Quite a spectacle.
We went around the corner to the Damariscotta River Association Salt Bay Farm property for a hike and found lots of bobolinks, over 100 swallows (tree, barn, cliff, northern rough winged-I think), a spotted sandpiper, Canada geese w/goslings, savannah sparrows and lots of yellow warblers.
Good birding,
Julia
