[Maine-birds] Caspian Tern and shorebirds Kennebec River

A CASPIAN TERN flew down the Kennebec River over Shawmut Dam at Fairfield/Benton tonight at 6:10 p.m. If the bird continues to the coast, it might be worth looking at Popham Beach in the morning.

The rain seems to have caused some shorebirds to fallout too. I saw 49 Least Sandpipers, 7 Solitary Sandpipers, 5 Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Greater Yellowlegs, and a Spotted Sandpiper locally this afternoon. There were also lots of swifts and swallows--including Barn, Tree, Bank, Rough-wing, and Cliff, foraging low over fields and water during the rain.
