All-
I take care of the 180+ birdboxes set out at The Woodlands in
Falmouth, primarily along the golf course. This spring, many boxes
occupied by various rodents esp. red and flying squirresl, some by
tiny mice. Many full of acorn remnants, probably larders.
Most boxes sized for bluebirds, WB nuthatches, Tree swallows, and have
had good success attracting these spp., though only a few bluebirds.
However, some boxes and entrance holes sized for Great-crested
flycatchers. Yesterday, May 8, I was approaching one of the boxes
that attrated this species last year, and there was a bird sitting on
the box, and it was a...Great-crested flycathcer, FOY. This spp.
common to abundant here in the summer. However, have not heard this
bird singing so far this spring.
