[Maine-birds] Hummer feeder question

I am going to put out my first humming bird feeder, especially for that early arrival yest.  Can I put it near the feeders for the other birds (and squirrels!) or should it be in a totally different area?  The hummer that visited yest was drawn to my window to look at a bright green and red parrot salt shaker from the 50's.  If I put the feeder near the window is it likely that the hummer will forget the glass is there?  This one seemed to know and just hovered, checking out the salt shaker.  Thanks. Sorry if these are dumb questions!
