Has anyone seen any hummingbirds yet? I checked eBird and have not found any for Maine yet. I thought I recalled a list serve report of a couple of weeks ago. In the past, I've always had them by now starting as early as April 27. Responses to the ? appreciated in advance, off list please.
Phippsburg, Me Map 6 Totman Cove
Red Breasted mergs, flock of 38 fishing REALLY hard with seals all around.
Long Tailed ducks #2 in a few hundred feet off shore, they are with the mergs as they are usually out in the harbor further
White Winged Scoters # 6 also fishing
Common Loons # 5 very vocal and doing the surface dash thing which I think is some sort of courting thing, but not sure
Bald Eagles # 2 making the loons cry and the eiders grumble
Common eiders # 17
DC corms 21
Osprey (sorry to be so out of order here!) # 3
EVERYBODY is in the pool this morning!
Mated pair of Myrtle YR warbs at suet feeders. Hope they hang and nest here. That male is SO flashy and they are very vocal, cute to hear and pretty, but they are very snarky with the Chickadees and RB nuthatches that are on the same suet. Some pretty good dust ups have taken place
Northern Cardinal #2 mated pair I'm pretty sure are nesting around here close, too
Am Crows still busy nest building and making a racket. It drives my neighbor insane as they are nesting in the trees by his bedroom window.
Non avian: The seals are running hard at Popham worth seeing over by the fort. Can the terns be far behind?
FOY White Sulphur butterfly
