Osprey numbers have varied around Payson Park in past week due to tides, etc., but the alewife migration should pick up this week. One afternoon at Payson, 35+ oprey caught fish in about an hour span. As of today (Sunday), the fish trap door is shut to start trapping and bailing fish. This means that fish and oprey/eagle activity will be best in that vinicity below the Main Street bridge, usually around the higher tide periods. Going forward, the trap is kept shut during the week, but is opened for full fish passage on the weekends.
I understand the alewives are also moving at Damariscotta Mills.
