Re: [Maine-birds] Northern Lapwing - No - as of 6:10am, 5/7.

Hi again,

Unfortunately, Katrina called again with another negative report at 8:00. Fog is just starting to lift, and birders are fanning out to check more fields. Gillespie Farms on Mayall Road in Gray/New Gloucester should be checked thoroughly as this is the closest extensive habitat.

On a less optimistic note - and to add credence to Louis Bevier's hypothesis that the bird hit the road last night - Katrina talked to a local resident who said the bird had been present since FRIDAY, but "not knowing who to call," didn't contact Maine Audubon until Sunday. How frustrating!

Well, perhaps if it is refound to the northeast, it will stick for another 4 days! Thanks again to Robby for getting the word out last night - and Jeannette and I are thankful for the opportunity to have twitched it under the setting sun. I'll post some phone-scoped pics tomorrow.

Good luck everyone!

-Derek
