Hi Peter,
Brown Creepers are on definitely on the move right now. I have been finding at least a few everywhere I have birded over the last week or better. They were particularly abundant yesterday when I was on Monhegan and we never even entered the woods. I don't encounter creepers very often in southern Maine during the breeding season, but they do breed here, as well as overwinter. When walking through the woods in the dead of winter, it is not uncommon to find a Brown Creeper and/or Golden-Crowned Kinglets amongst Black-Capped Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, and Nuthatches.
Bird haahd,
Noah Gibb-Portland
