I was pumped yesterday to see 34 eiders on the Unity Pond. Today the flock had grown to 575! They were fairly close to shore, mostly in a tight raft, easily visible from the Field of Dreams viewpoint. I saw them at 1:00 and they remained in the south cove the whole time (I left at about 3:00) despite being flushed by a sea plane and disturbed by boats. They were loafing the whole time. No other ducks visible except for two Lesser Scaup. Wow.
Good birding
