[Maine-birds] Sabbatus Pond ducks, etc.

This morning I swung down to Sabbatus Pond to see if any ducks were passing through, as I haven't been seeing any elsewhere.  Sure enough, there were a few rafts of Scaup (both Greater and Lesser) and several dozen Ruddy ducks.  And mallards, of course.  There were several hundred gulls on a cow pasture just west of the town of Sabbatus, though I didn't look at them (not sure if there was a good place to pull off the highway).  At Sabbatus Pond there was also a Bonaparte's gull.  On my way home I stopped at the lake in Winthrop and found no ducks, but among the gulls was a Great Black-Backed (first one I've seen in Winthrop this fall), and a mystery gull for me which looked like some sort of cross between a Laughing and Ring-Billed.

Best viewing for the ducks at Sabbatus was on the south and east sides of the lake; only a few mallards were close to the park on the west side.
