[Maine-birds] Sabino Head - Phippsburg

Fort Baldwin sits atop this isolated ridge, next to the mouth of the Kennebec River.  The trail up to a tower, goes by three batteries.  Standing on top of each of these offers great looks at tree-top birds.  A trail then continues along the ridge, coming out near Popham Beach's gate.  Birding along Rt 209 back towards the Ft Baldwin parking lot can be very good.  The sun hits these trees early, waking up the bugs.  You can make a three-mile hike out of this circle.  I was here at dawn, looking for owls. Fantastic morning.

Nothing real unusual this morning, except for a (possibly injured) Blackpoll Warbler.  Also a few Pine Warblers.  Near the Phragmites patch out near Ft Popham, were 2 male E Towhees, plus a third near the trailer camp.  Don't see a lot of these on the Phippsburg-West Bath Peninsula.
