[Maine-birds] Northern Maine Birds: Greater White-fronted Goose, Pine Grosbeak, Bohemian Waxwings

Thursday, I made an early morning jaunt over to Portage Lake to look for the Greater White-fronted Goose reported on the previous day.

Eventually, I found the bird skulking between the gravestones in the Buffalo Cemetary at the tip-top of Fox Hill.  The goose was an adult and close enough for good looks without the scope.  I enjoyed looking at those crazy bright orange legs and feet.

Other birds in the neighborhood were 19 Wild Turkeys (still rare enough to be noteworthy in northern Maine), 16 Snow Buntings and a flyover Pine Grosbeak.

I posted a couple photos with the eBird list: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S15608809

In the afternoon, I saw a  flock of 16 Bohemian Waxwings near the river in Caribou.  Though they've been reported widely around the area in past few days, these first of the season for me.

Cheers
