Re: [Maine-birds] Barrow's goldeneyes Machias River

We looked for the Barrow's Goldeneyes this morning but got skunked!  We did have a nice variety of ducks including several individuals of all three Mergus species.  We intend to keep monitoring this part of the river to see what turns up!

Hi Folks,

I stopped at the Irving station in Machias this morning and there were 2 drake Barrow's goldeneyes diving in the currents in the Machias River behind the store.
I was only there five minutes but detected the following:

2  Barrow's goldeneye
4  Buffleheads (two pair)
1  Common merganser
6  Canada geese
15 Ring-billed gulls
1  Herring gull

Good birding,

Norm Famous
