Re: [Maine-birds] Snow Buntings and Lapland Longspurs

Hello Merle and Anne,

Another good area close to where you were is Baseline Road, leading through woods (2 miles?) to the blueberry barrens. Baseline Road is off 193, at the white sign for the (apparently defunct) Sunrise Beagle Club. Both the road and the barrens can be good. Also Pea Ridge road from the end of Ridge Road in Cherryfield, through the barrens to Columbia 4 Corners. BTW it is strangely easy to get lost out there, though I imagine outdoor professionals like you are a lot better at finding your way around than I am.

Take care,

Joel

This morning we found a flock of 20 Snow Buntings that included at least 2 Lapland Longspurs.  We were birding the State airstrip in Deblois (off Route 193).
