[Maine-birds] information on starling nesting habits please?

My neighbors approached me.  The ice this winter caused a hole in their soffit, and before they could repair it, a pair of starlings took up residence.  The young are still on the nest.  No one has tried to see in to see how many nests there may be.

My neighbors don't want to kill the birds or their nestlings, but at this point we're wondering:  will the Starlings start a new clutch before or immediately when this brood fledges?  Does anyone know of something that will make the place unpleasant enough that they'll leave on their own (I thought of mothballs), and what's our window of opportunity to drive them out without leaving helpless babies?  Once they're gone, of course, the hole can be repaired or at least blocked to prevent re-entry.  We've been watching the adults feed the nestlings for at least a week now.

Any advice would be appreciated.
