Yesterday, Jerry Smith and I made a trip north to help Clay Hardy with his camp and we combined it with some birding at Lake Josephine in Easton. Some of the highlights were
American Bitterns,
Virginia Rails, and eleven species of waterfowl, including; a pair of
Redheads,
Northern Shovelers,
American Wigeon,
Lesser Scaup,
Ruddy Ducks, and
Gadwalls. I doubt that there are many other places in Maine where you can find such a variety of ducks in early June. What a nice spot!
Good Birding,
John
