Phippsburg, Totman Cove yesterday first of season Buffleheads #6, #Red-necked grebe, RT loon and Horned grebes #6 all at once. Both exciting to see them and depressing. I'm still pretending it's summer. RRR

My mother reports the first Bufflehead of the season on the Megunticook River this morning. (She lives on the "mill pond" below the bridge on Molyneaux Rd., a portion of which remains open water through the winter.)
