[Maine-birds] Small ducks Mar 10 3:45p.m. narrow part of Somes Sound MDI

As I was driving over the bridge, in traffic, no place to stop, I saw 4 small ducks, 2 with distinct white crescent near rear end of body, dark heads, could not see any light markings on head, possibly due to the speed necessary to avoid collision with non-birding drivers.
My gut reaction was that I was seeing 4 Blue-winged teal. E-bird lists this as a rarity.  Wish I could have stopped and looked through the binoculars!  I suppose they might have been American wigeon.
It will impossible to know, unless some other birder can get over there and see what they are! Please let me know if you see them. Thanks, Carol

p.s. at least 15 Common Loons at the end of the Bar Harbor town pier at a little after 3:00p.m. It was hard to count them as they were obscured by dock, boats, and other paraphernalia.  Also 4 Bufflehead, 1 Herring Gull and other things farther out that I could not ID. I thought 2 of the loons looked a little different so I'll be studying all the bird book illustrations for awhile to see I can figure that out.
