I was too conservative with my SONG SPARROW estimate yesterday. There were (and are) indeed a few hundred around the island, not the few dozen I thought. Among the Songs are a few FOX SPARROWS and JUNCOS.
It's too early to really see what the past night has brought but one species has made its presence known.
About 7AM, a female KESTREL grabbed a sparrow as I was watching.
It's now enjoying its breakfast perched on a post at the end of the lawn.
