[Maine-birds] Georges River - Warren village fields

A variety of ducks are now arriving in the ice-free river corridor, with daily shifts in species composition. In addition to copious mallards and black ducks, a dozen Common mergs; several hooded mergs; a drake Barrows with several common goldeneyes; 13 wood ducks (12m; 1f). Turkey vulture numbers are building rapidly in the village - 11 emerged from a night roost stand of trees around 9 am. Mammals: two small groups of deer appeared in two different fields today. It was interesting to watch them methodically paw through 2-3 inches of remaining snow crust to nibble at brown grass tips.
