Driving home tonight on the Rice Rips Road in Oakland/Waterville, we saw what is very likely a woodcock. It flew across the road in front of us. I am hoping it wasn't for the bird's sake--almost no open ground around here--but it's not impossibly early. They always show up before I think they should. Anyone else see one yet?
