[Maine-birds] Eight gulls species on the Eastport waterfront

I missed a monster of a gull feeding frenzy on the incoming tide in Eastport this morning.  A friend told me that there were krill and small fish flipping everywhere and that thousands of gulls went nuts. The tide had slackened by the time I could look things over and almost all of gulls were just loafing around. I worked through the birds along the shoreline and counted 32 Iceland gulls (all ages), one  adult lesser black-back, one first winter glaucous and lots of great-black backed, herring, ring-billed, Bonaparte's, and kittiwakes. Fun stuff.

Cheers,

Chris Bartlett
