[Maine-birds] Northern Maine Birds: Glaucous Gulls, Iceland Gulls

I spent a couple hours this morning doing some scouting for the upcoming Caribou/Limestone Christmas Bird Count.  It was strange conditions (for this northern location) with no snow on the ground and temperatures heading for the high forties...

Found Evening Grosbeaks, Common Redpolls and Bohemian Waxwings in Caribou but the best stuff was at the Tri-Community Landfill in Fort Fairfield.  Several hundred gulls are lingering here this fall and there was a good number of  the "white-winged " variety.   The  flock included at least six first cycle Glaucous Gulls and at least 9 Iceland Gulls.

Haven't seen the thrasher in a couple days but several Ruffed Grouse have replaced it under the feeders.
