Paula and I went up to camp on 1st Roach Pond near Kokadjo east side of Moosehead Lake. Last year birds were quite scarce which puzzled us as we have seen plenty of birds in the last 30 years...But Saturday we had a very bright Black Throated Green and within 3 minutes a very orange Blackburnian in the same tree Also a great look at a Wilson's Snipe. Others include a Kingfisher, Mallards, Loons, several gulls mostly ringed bill and heard a Pileated woodpecker .. Our next door neighbor had a good look.. we really didn't have a lot of time to bird but I hope this is a good omen.. 3 weeks previous we saw a beautiful pair on Common Golden Eyes on a small wetland pond...
