Visitors:
51 people visited the hawkwatch, including 14 hawkwatch workshop participants and a Boy Scout troop from Falmouth. Thank you to all who attended the Feathers over Freeport programs!

Weather:
Today was overcast with moderate winds mostly from the south. Temperatures were in the mid forties to low fifties. Light sprinkling began at around 12:00 pm EST, eventually becoming drizzle and steadier rain. The count ended at 2:15 pm EST due to this rain.

Raptor Observations:
It was a nice morning of hawkwatching, with quite a few close birds. This allowed the hawkwatch workshop participants to work on their ID and enjoy some beautiful raptors. Migrant and local Broad-winged Hawks dominated the skies, and a few immature Red-tailed Hawks were moving through. Raptor movement slowed down when the drizzle started.

Non-raptor Observations:
The first Ovenbird of the season was heard singing in the distance today. There was some nice non-raptor migrant diversity. 41 bird species were observed.

Species deemed migrating:
19 Blue Jays
13 American Robins
12 Common Grackles
12 Tree Swallows
6 warbler sp.
5 Yellow-rumped Warblers
4 passerine sp.
2 American Goldfinches
2 blackbird sp.
2 Canada Geese
1 Belted Kingfisher
1 Common Loon
1 Great Blue Heron

Predictions:
It looks like tomorrow will be a rainy day, with scattered showers in the morning and steadier rain during the afternoon. East northeast winds are predicted. Hopefully a bit of counting will be possible in the morning, but raptor movement is likely to be slow due to the rain and the wind direction.
