Hey all,
-- While dipping on the White-eyed Vireo at Timber Point in Biddeford, I came across this Song Sparrow. It appeared to have some yellowish growths around its beak and eyes. It appeared to be able to use its beak normally and was interacting with another sparrow in the area. I am curious if anyone can provide me with more information about the growth. I have a couple pictures posted and have a few more if someone would like more views.
I would also like to remind everyone that the Global Big Day is May 14th, about a week away. All you need to do to participate is log the birds you see into eBird. For some additional fun, I have put out a friendly challenge between York county and Cumberland county to see which county can log more birds that day. Further, I am taking a group of middle schoolers out that day to bird and would love to hear about other people taking young people out birding.
For those of you who might be taking younger, budding birders out consider these bird bingo cards from Cornell Lab of Ornithology E-Store.
Thank you,
Nathan Hall
