Not a roost, but a short stream of crows over my house in Sanford today. Brought back memories of Derby Hill Spring hawk watch (east end of Lake Ontario) when, on one of my first trips there, in the late 80s, crows steadily passed over. About the same time, there were continuous flights of birds flying over that no one paid attention to. I had no idea why. Turns out they were Blue Jays, which I hadn't known migrated! Hawks were of greatest interest, of course. Lots of "good" ones.
(Dare I mention that a possible White-tailed Eagle is thought to have flown over Derby in April of 1993? It was known that it would be a good day, thus over 100 people were on the hill, among them the best birders of central New York state. Someone called out "Get on this bird", after which many eyes were on it. It has never been accepted by NYSARC, to my knowledge, though great study of it has been done. Exciting day, even for a beginner.)
More juncos today too.
