[Maine-birds] This Week's Highlights, 12/9-15

Hi all,

In addition to an dramatic increase in feeder bird action - finally! - my observations of note over the past seven days included:
- 1 continuing immature male DICKCISSEL, feeders here at the store, through week's end, despite the onset of winter weather.
- 1 drake Barrow's Goldeneye, Simpson's Point, Brunswick, 12/9 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).
- 1 continuing pair NORTHERN SHOVELERS, Wharton Point, Brunswick, 12/9 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).
- 1 Double-crested Cormorant, Portland Harbor, 12/10.
- 2 Turkey Vultures, over I-295 in Cumberland, 12/10.
- 1 male Red-winged Blackbird, feeders here at the store, 12/10.
- 2 SNOWY OWLS, Biddeford Pool, 12/11 (with Jeannette).
- 40+ Dunlin and 50+ Sanderlings, Fortunes Rocks Beach, Biddeford, 12/11 (with Jeannette).
- 1 continuing GRAY CATBIRD and 1 continuing Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Saco Riverwalk, 12/11 (with Jeannette).
- 1 Double-crested Cormorant, Yarmouth Harbor, 12/14.
- 1 hen Northern Pintail, Auburn Riverwalk, 12/15 (with Dan Nickerson).
- 1,000+ Common Mergansers, I Ruddy Duck, 400+ Mallards, etc, etc, Lake Auburn, 12/15 (with Dan Nickerson).
