2 Sandhill CranesI was driving along Perkins Lane only to find 2 crane like birds foraging in an open field near the roadside. At first, we saw these birds thinking they were some kind of heron or crane, and ran home to get binoculars and a camera. Upon further examination, they were clearly sandhill cranes due to the red crown on the head and the blotchy brownness in their overall gray appearance. I found them in a wide open field with a small bog near them. They were about 200 feet off the road. After returning about 40 minutes later both individuals had left. eBird Checklist: eBird Checklist – Perkins Lane, York County, Maine, US – Thu Apr 05, 2018 – 1 species |
