[Maine-birds] sandhill cranes today

Stopped at the Messalonskee boat launch later this afternoon, and low and behold, after snooping for them yesterday with some other birders, and no luck, there were 2 in the marsh at the right of the launch today.

There were ring necked, common mergansers, common goldeneyes, Canada geese, and some tree swallows all gathered at the edge of the ice quite far out.

I am very concerned about the food supply for the cranes and the swallows...  any input?
