[Maine-birds] White-winged Scoters at Unity Pond

This morning, while hunting waterfowl at Unity Pond in Waldo County, I saw a flock of 60 White-winged Scoters.  I noticed a high-flying flock of ducks coming from the north riding the 10 mph winds.  They circled for a few minutes and then continued flying south.  I was able to get my 10x42 binoculars on them for about a minute to confirm the ID. Large black-colored ducks with obvious white feathers on the secondaries. Every bird seemed to have white on the wings. Scoters on Unity Pond are not unheard of, but this seems early for them to start migrating across Central Maine.  I am very confident in my ID because of my duck ID skills both from hunting and from my waterfowl biology studies.
