a delightful day Tuesday in our yard, garden, barnyard and near the pond, Bowdoinham
ruby-throated hummingbird still at feeder
chickadees, returning
great blue heron at the pond
Am. crow
phoebes, several
goldfinches, one young one begging to be fed by a purple finch
purple finches, 4 female/young, one male
white-breasted nuthatch
one red-breasted nuthatch
bluejays returning
catbird
one yellow-rumped warbler, but many birds higher in the trees that I couldn't see how many or what species
one blue-headed vireo
chipping sparrows everywhere, feeding young
hairy and downy woodpeckers (both were males)
female redstart
pine warbler (I think)
tufted titmouse, one bedraggled looking, first in month
broad-winged hawk over recently cleared field
scarlet tanager, first year (part of the crowd at the berry/rose/autumn olive bushes which included the warblers and sparrows and catbird)
AND
15-20 bluebirds, lots of juveniles in that crowd. I couldn't count them all, as there were so many swooping in and out
I hope I got all of this correct. It was quite a day just in one spot.
