If you leave them up into October, or even November, you might attract a rare hummingbird from out west. Ruby-throated Hummingbirds vacate the region by the end of September, but Rufous Hummingbird in particular are becoming more and more common in the east in the fall and even into the winter (the likelyhood is small, but you never know!)
