Just an amazing morning at the Viles Arboretum. My new personal one-day warbler record at the arboretum.
Highlights include a single male Cape May and a single singing male Bay-breasted in conifers by the DEP visitor lot. At one point I had both birds in my bino field of view. In the same area were at least 4, perhaps 6 male Wilson's Warblers. Elsewhere up by the cistern was a mega-pile of warblers dominated by BT Green and parula but also including a single female Prairie and 4 Blackpoll males. At the red bridge (outlet of Viles Pond) was also a good pocket of warblers including a N. Waterthrush.
Sparrows were also in abundance including a single Lincoln's near the cistern and several Swamps.
A Scarlet Tanager was pit-burring near the vernal pool. And to pad my list I had to hike back to the pine grove to get my Pine Warbler - that was actually one of the hardest ones to find this morning.
