Three white crowned sparrows spent the day under my feeders. I occasionally get them during migrations.
Have been enjoying the bobolink choir since Friday a.m. Still waiting on RT hummingbird.
Warblers are slowly filling in here:
Bl. throated blue today
N. parula, yellow, c. yellowthroat yesterday. Nashville on Friday. BW, pine and n. waterthrush have been around for a while. Lots of n. waterthrushes in the neighborhood this year.
I watched five (!) ovenbirds argue about territory today. It's unusual to SEE one, let alone five at once.
Still haven't heard a bl. throated green or chestnut sided.
Got another bounce message about a posting I made Saturday, so if you actually saw this earlier, I apologize. Spent the morning in Damariscotta and saw the alewife show at the fish ladder. Amazing! Lots of gulls (herring). In the bay across the street there were some greater black backed. Also had my first laughing gull and a spotted sandpiper at Great Salt Bay Farm. Wonderful walk there --100+ swallows. At least four species. Yellow warblers seemingly everywhere. Canada geese with goslings. And more bobolinks. Didn't get rail or bittern and there were ducks offshore that I couldn't ID.
