Hi all,
The salt pannes on the easy side of the north end of the Eastern Road Trail were en fuego this am, at least before several strafing runs by a juvenile Peregrine Falcon really cleaned things out.
Good numbers of the expected shorebirds and waders were highlighted by:
- 1 juvenile RED-NECKED PHALAROPE (RNPH, just off the trail, moved further out with the PEFA). Photos.
- 1 presumed TRICOLORED HERON x SNOWY EGRET HYBRID (only the bird with pure white splotches and wingtips was present this am).
- 2 WHITE-FACED IBIS (WFIB; one apparent basic adult and one probable basic subadult. Photos).
- 2 Stilt Sandpipers (STSA; 1 ad, 1 juv).
- 2 adult Tricolored Herons (TRHE).
- 45 White-rumpled Sandpipers, etc
The phalarope was still present as of 10:10 am.
-Derek
