Perfect description of a Red Knot confirmed by photos of a juvenile. Well done, Phillip.

Coincidentally, I saw my first juvenile Red Knots of the fall today also. There were two on the Lubec flats this afternoon.

Greenish yellow legs, bill seems Calidris-like but short for something this big, light grayish back with fine markings, scapulars edged like a juvenile, dark wingtips when folded. Juvenile Knot is my best guess (or Ruff?). Photographed late afternoon . . .
